The Friends of RTBG is a committed group of people who work to support and assist the Gardens through activities, voluntary work and fundraising.

Friends of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

The Friends support the Gardens with volunteer and financial assistance, and promote the Gardens and its aims in the general community.

They are an active group of supporters helping to keep our gardens a beautiful thriving place for all Tasmanians and their visitors.

Active Friends receive copies of the magazine FAGUS, training and discounts at the Botanical Shop.

Friends volunteer in the following areas within the Gardens:

Visitor centre
Gardens herbarium
Propagation of plants
Providing tour guides
The Friends of the Gardens Cottage
Seed Conservation Centre
Cultural Heritage Group
