Chinese Collection
Many of the plants in the Chinese Collection
were grown from seeds collected by the Gardens' staff member Jim Cane during a field trip to Yunnan province, near the Tibetan border.
Traditional Chinese gardening practice was followed, making the careful, artistic placement of rocks a key feature of the landscape design.
Rhododendrons, primulas and acers (maples) thrive under the watchful eyes of the lion statues, with wandering paths forming habitats from streamside to alpine.
