RTBG Business Units
Business Services
The Business Services Unit is responsible for providing financial, human resources, administration and visitor services functions for the RTBG.
Planning & Assets
The Planning and Assets Unit is responsible for all aspects of infrastructure, landscaping, Gardens planning and related project work, building and utilities maintenance and infrastructure support. The assets are managed within sound conservation principles and guidelines, and to ensure they are safe and are 'fit for purpose'. The Unit also oversees information technology, security and cleaning.The guiding document for management, development and maintenance of the RTBG infrastructure is the recently completed Strategic Conservation Asset Management Plan (SCAMP).
Botanical Estate
The Botanical Estate Unit is responsible for the horticultural management and curation of the plant collections, plant displays and nursery plant production. Landscape refurbishment and project developments are part of ongoing works as identified in the Business Operational Plan. The Unit is also responsible for specialist horticultural advice, waste management, student training and assistance with the RTBG's community education programs.
Botanical And Public Programs
The Botanical and Public Programs Unit plans, directs and develops the gardens Botanical Resources, Education, Interpretation and Marketing and Events programs in line with the RTBG Strategic Plan 2003-2007. The Botanical and Public Programs Unit also undertakes strategic planning and project management roles.
Botanical Resources
The Botanical Resources Unit is responsible for the documentation of the RTBG plant collections through mapping, tagging, labelling and maintenance of the plant database. Ancillary collections are also maintained by the Unit, these include; the library, herbarium, photographic and digital images and archival material. The Unit conducts grant-based research, plant health monitoring and manages the Plant Information Service. The Unit has also expertise in the area of Cultural Landscape assessment and mangement.
Education
The Education Unit is responsible for school curriculum-based and adult community education programs focusing on the RTBG, its plant collections and cultural heritage. The Unit coordinates the RTBG volunteer program and also provides a coordination role for the staff and volunteer training program.
Interpretation
The Interpretation Unit is responsible for developing and presenting themes, stories and messages that underpin the RTBG's programs to visitors. The Interpretation Unit also provides for the orientation and information needs of visitors, as well as guiding visitor behaviour in the Gardens with a range of media, signage, publications, displays, off-site displays, the Discovery Centre, exhibition development and operation.
Marketing & Events
The Marketing and Events Unit is responsible for the development and implementation of a marketing and communications program that aims to refocus the image of the RTBG and promote its use to a wider audience. The Unit is also responsible for the roll out of RTBG event program, merchandising of the Botanical Shop and managing public relations for the RTBG.
